and joining us for episode 231 is a revered and hugely influential British singer-songwriter

not to mention a scouse folk hero known not only for his solo work but also his output with bands like The Pale

Fountains, Shack and Michael Head and the Strands. A few weeks ago he and his

Red Elastic band released their excellent second full-length album, Dear Scott, the title of which references a the

title of which references a postcard that are down on his look F. Scott Fitzgerald once addressed to himself as he checked into a Hollywood hotel.

Produced by fellow gifted Merseyser Bill Ryder Jones, it deservedly debuted in the UK top 10, as well as topping the indie chart. We're very happy to welcome the wonderful Mick Head to the podcast.

We had the great pleasure of sitting down with Mick at Arc Studios in Liverpool a few weeks ago.

Our first in-person chat in just over two years, by the way.

Yeah, and it made a very welcome change from Zoom, I must say.

I'd must be able to speak to people in real time without latency.

Same, yeah, although didn't you miss not being able to do the interview in your underpants,

spray? Oh, definitely.

And lovely to do it in our hometown too. We're not often

together in Liverpool these days are we? Alas no. As we just mentioned we recorded

this interview at Arc which is just outside the city centre and right next door to the

Pacific rehearsal rooms we used to frequent with our old band back in the day so it was

quite a nostalgia trip for us wasn't it? Yeah and in another blast from the past Steve

Powell who owns and runs the studio was one of our lecturers wasn't he at Lippa many

moons ago. Yeah he taught a music business class there and they're

funnily enough his son Tom now plays bass in the Red
