The struggle for the hearts, minds and riches of Latin America during World War II.

Even before the first shot of the war was fired, the access and the allies were well aware

of the need to control not just the hearts and minds, but also the resources of Latin America.

And this fight, like the larger one, had few rules.

The Americans were captured to exchange for American POWs and rival spy networks shadowed

each other across the South American continent.

In fact, it was the oil of Mexico that allowed Hitler to enjoy a head start in terms of resources

during the first phase of the war.

With the access and join early victories, the countries of Latin America had to decide

who side they would be on.
