| 0:02.0 | And the Oscar goes to... Gentlemen, my only object in being here is to try and get at the truth. What shall I go? What shall I do? He's looking at you, kid. Frankly, my dear, I don't give it. Could have been a contender. Passing your... I could have been somebody. They can only kill me with a golden bullet. What have I done? Call me, Mr. Tibbs. I'm gonna make them an offer you can. |
| 0:23.0 | Love is. They can only kill me with a golden bully. What have I done? Call me Mr. Tips. I'm gonna make them an awful we can. Love you is... It is......too weak a word....I loveter. I lovue. I love you. I love you. I did this instruct. Don't live! If there's something wrong, it's wrong with the instruction. This ain't reality TV. It's back it. It's invalidated. Remember that you told me? It's time, Robbie. Welcome to the next best picture podcast. And the Oscar goes to Parasite. Hello, everyone, and welcome to episode 223 of the Next Best Picture Podcast. I am your host, Matt Negli. A time of recording is 1110 a.m. on December 6th, 2020. Here to join me today. I have Michael |
| 0:58.6 | Schwartz. Hello, everyone. Dan Bear. Good morning. And Josh Parham. Hello, hello. |
| 1:06.6 | All right, everyone. Fun week, fun episode. We are going to be talking about the big news that was announced this week by Warner Bros, |
| 1:13.9 | where their entire 2021 slate will be debuting both simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. |
| 1:21.2 | We're going to be talking about the trailers for the Mauritinian and the Dig. |
| 1:24.7 | We're also going to be going over the polls, answering some fan community questions, |
| 1:28.7 | and announcing the winners for the 2016 NBP Film Community Awards, |
| 1:35.8 | as voted on by all of you of the great listeners of Next Best Picture.com. |
| 1:40.7 | Very, very excited to do that. |
| 1:43.7 | So, why don't we first kick it off with what everyone caught up with this week at home? Michael, starting off with you. |
| 1:50.5 | Okay, so I caught up with three movies this week, all 2020 releases. The first I can't go into so much detail with, but I did get a chance to see news of the world, and I tweeted about it, |
| 2:01.2 | and I think it's very good, and you're going to be seeing it in some Oscar categories going |
| 2:05.7 | forward. So we'll save more for when we're allowed to talk about that in detail. Okay. Cool. |
| 2:10.2 | I mean, I saw it, too. And while we can't get into review territory with it, I think, like, |
| 2:16.0 | from an Oscar standpoint, I see it more as a |
| 2:18.1 | tech player than anything. So I can see it getting cinematography, score, sound nominations. |
| 2:26.1 | Yeah, I would also look at costume design. It's Mark Bridges and they really love him in that |
| 2:29.7 | branch. Very true. Yeah. Yeah, he's really well respected. I actually think it is in contention for best picture, just not one of these top tier contenders. I think once people watch it over the holiday and really get caught up in the emotion of the story, it's going to have its fans. So maybe not this best picture juggernaut, but I think it's certainly in the mix. |
| 2:46.4 | I disagree on that, but that's okay. |
| 2:49.7 | So I watched that. |
