Welcome everybody to Crystal Kyle and friends, just Crystal and friend today. But I have a

really excellent guest that I am super excited to talk to, Professor Richard Wolfe, who is going to

break down for us just how hard Trump's trade war has failed

at this point. And also, what does it mean for our economy going forward? Because even as he

seems to have blinked, seems to have backed down off of some of the more maximalist goals that he had

originally set out, we still are looking at continued significant tariffs

around the world, in particular with our largest trading partner, China, 145% tariffs at least,

still in place as of today. Now, Trump tells us that that high a tariff is not going to remain.

Scott Besson has said that the Treasury Secretary

says this is not sustainable. But meanwhile, the Chinese are saying, okay, well, we can talk.

But before we do any sort of discussions about a potential deal, you've got to back off of all

of these tariffs because we're not going to be bullied into some sort of capitulation. We are not

going to be bullied into making some sort of a deal and went on to say, listen, as of now, there

are no talks to a deal. So we've still got a lot of open questions, even as it has become

undeniably clear that whatever Trump's original stated aims for this trade war

were, they have all completely failed, whether it's getting the treasury bond down, yield down,

whether it is bringing manufacturing jobs back, supposedly getting 90 deals and 90 days.

So far we have zero deals. And now he is even acknowledging that

the peace with China has effectively completely failed. So even as we have some certainty around

that, we still have a lot of questions about what unfolds from here. Trump, of course,

famously can change his mind on a dime. He seems to be backing away right now. What does he do tomorrow?
