Summary

Thank you for joining us for another episode of the Low Carb MD Podcast. Siobhan Huggins is Dave Feldman's right hand researcher in all things cholesterol & lipoproteins. She went keto in August of 2016, lost 80 pounds, and completely turned her health around. Now she spends her time deep diving into the inner workings of the lipid system, and searching for the mechanisms of the modern diseases that surround us.

In this conversation, Brian and Siobhan discuss how Siobhan discovered the keto diet, Siobhan's battle with anxiety and depression and the advantage that the keto diet gave her in that battle, lipedema and its symptoms, the effect of high fat vs high carb diets on the microbiome, why the Western diet is a metabolic disaster, the genius of the human body for survival and balance, the importance of considering the bio-individuality of each person seeking to regain health on the keto diet, the effect that mindset can have on success and health, and the frustration at the root of doctor burn out.
