0:49.9 | Today's story is about a man named Gopi who put his life on the line for his son. |
0:54.2 | They were trapped in slavery and a rice mill. |
0:57.1 | And he knew his two-year-old son had a heart condition and needed medical and teaching. |
1:01.5 | The slave owner who controlled Gopi's life was brutal, verbal abuse, physical beatings, |
1:06.8 | all that to make him comply with his orders. |
1:09.6 | And Gopi never left the facility even to do something like visit a doctor. |
1:13.6 | He had to save his son and he grew desperate. |
1:16.4 | And so one day he escaped the facility. |
1:18.4 | And thankfully, IJM was able to make contact with him soon after and helped him speak to |
1:22.7 | the district officials about the conditions he and his family were facing. |
