There's an old saying in football when coaches get together and they're sort of talking ball that whoever has the chalk last always wins. What this means is picture of the coaching room and now they'd be like dry race boards. It's been the old days. They're like chalk boards and you've got the offensive coach. He's drawing his stuff up and the defensive coach says, well, listen, if you do that and he takes the chalk from me, he says, I'm just going to do this and move my guys here, and then the offensive coach takes the chalk back and says, well, no, if you're going to do that, I'm going to do this. Basically, the thought is, whoever has the chalk glass gets to make the adjustment that kind of wins the battle on that particular play, and coaches have sort of joked that way

with each other for very long time. I think there's an element of truth probably to that

that speaks to the fact that football is ultimately a sport about punches and counterpunches.

And I think that's true both in terms of the actual plays that get called, but also the sort

of overarching philosophy that guides football teams as

well. And I think that when you look a little more deeply at that, one of the things that you

see is, is that some things work better as a punch and some things perhaps works better as a

counter punch. Let me talk about Georgia specifically here to see if we can kind of make this

make some sense. You know, one of the things that we've noticed about Georgia thus far this

spring is the fact that we believe the Georgia identity this year has a chance to be far

different than perhaps it's been in maybe any other year of the Kirby Smart era because

Carson Beck is getting so much attention right now.

There's a chance that Beck's the number one overall pick in next year's NFL draft.

Long journey to get there, of course, over the next 12 months, if that's the case.

But it's certainly a realistic possibility for Beck.

And because of that, we would say this Georgia team this year is perhaps defined by quarterback

more so than any other in the Kirby Smart
