host Mike Hall with me today is Marsh hello and Alice so the Hermes that that was a thing that is still a it's still a

quick well this is this is the thing is that we were going to talk

this show about the fundraiser that the Australian skeptics have started because

Brit Hermes is being sued by the American naturopath Colin Huber over some blog articles that Brit

wrote for her blog naturopathic diaries where she highlights the the claims made by

naturopaths and some of the things that they are taught to treat.

Yeah, and Brits for listeners who might not be aware as a former naturopath who towards the end of her training she kind of set up as a junior in a practice and realized I'm not

remotely qualified to treat anyone actually this is all nonsense.

Yeah exactly but obviously is a former

QD speaker which kind of makes her a forgotten superhero of science apparently. Yes that's true.

And so Brit is now spending her time writing about what she actually learned in naturopathic practice and how dangerous it can be,

as well as doing a PhD in Kiel in Germany where she now lives.

And as a result of the writing she's been doing, she's been taken to court by Colleen Huber.

And obviously we've seen plenty of cases in the past of liable cases that were the costs spiral

and if you don't have exceptionally deep pockets. that were

the costs spiral and if you don't have exceptionally deep pockets

you could be forced to back down your case
