The topic in sports right now sort of outside the boundaries of my typical chatter here on Dog Nation Daily, presented by Mary Weather and Tharp, that I'm probably the most interested in right now. This is not everybody's thing, but I'm interested in at the moment. It's whether or not Kurt Cousins, you follow this story, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback, might sign a huge free agent deal to come to Atlanta.

I'm really interested in this topic right now and I'll tell you why. Not that Cousins is the greatest quarterback in the world because obviously he's not. What is it? Colin Cowherd made famous the idea that he doesn't play well in anything other than one o'clock games. So I mean, clearly, you know, Cousins is not like the greatest quarterback back in the world, but he is better than what Atlanta has had.

And the reason why I think this is sort of interesting is, is not like the greatest quarterback in the world, but he is better than what Atlanta has had.

And the reason why I think this is sort of interesting is it's a sharp contrast where the Falcons were prior to this in the Arthur Smith era.

If you follow the NFL, if you follow Falcons if you even care, where it seemed like the Falcons then were content in the Smith era to sort of put off making a decision about

quarterback, we'll sort of worry about that later, seem to be the idea of Arthur Smith.

Whereas if the Kirk Cousins thing sort of comes to fruition, it seems to be a little bit of

indication of the Falcons want to be as good at quarterback as they can be right now.

A little bit more immediacy, if you will, in terms of their motivation.

And I would say, generally speaking, sports fans really like that.

They like the idea of how good can we be right now?

What can we do to try to win now? I think that's just the mindset that sports

fans prefer. And that's not always right, of course. I'll give you another example from the,

you know, the lifetime of covering and following Atlanta sports. Remember when the Braves, I guess

it was a bit like right around the turn of the century or something like that, you know, somewhere around

that time, when they traded for Mark Tashara, the big slugger, the Texas Rangers, Braves gave up a lot for him. Tashira came here. We knew he was a free agent at the end of the year. We knew he was not going to necessarily just sign with Atlanta simply because they traded for him, but they brought him here in the hopes of winning now. Didn't work. He didn't hit very well on us here.

And some of the guys the Braves traded for to share a pretty big haul of but they brought him here in the hopes of winning now. Didn't work. He didn't hit very well.
