How can this happen?

We are at the Double B Studios.

We are home in our home state of Nevada.

We are in Las Vegas.

So my audience today is October 31st. And what do we celebrate?

We celebrate Halloween. So that is the part of the show that we are going to start with. However, where we are going to end is quite

different. But before we get into the ghosts and the goblins, October 31st has another significance, and the rest of the country doesn't know it.

And I'm surprised my audience after living in Nevada so long.

I really find it ironic that we celebrate the entrance of the Nevada state into the Union on

October 31st, which is also Halloween. Do you think that's ironic? I do. So why would I say that, my audience? Well, the reason for the irony is that

Halloween celebrates ghosts and goblins and everything scary. And yet, that is the same day that the state of Nevada was entranced into the United States as the 33rd, ah, I apologize, as the 36th state of the Union in 1864.

And the first known observance of Nevada Day was by the Pacific Coast Pioneer Society during

the 1870s. So we weren't big on celebrations in those days.

The Nevada legislature established a state holiday in 1933, which was on October 31st.

So amidst all the trick-or-treaters, there were people waving Nevada state flags.

That is a lie.
