We're so glad to get to partner with IJM this week on the TSF quarantine shows as well as here on the regular that sounds fun podcast episodes.

IJM is the largest anti-slavery organization in the world and they work to rescue people out of slavery and sex trafficking and walk with survivors until they are restored and thriving and freedom.

And we love sharing their stories of hope and today is about a young guy named Gideon and his brother. They were trapped in slavery and Lake Volta in Ghana for years.

He doesn't know how old he was when he was trafficked because he was a child but for years he endured cruelty upon cruelty and didn't imagine he would ever escape.

One day when he was just fishing out on the lake another boat pulled up next to his and it was full of IJM investigators who were trying to get a grasp on just how many kids were working on the lake.

Gideon looked one of these investigators in the eye and bravely sproak up and said don't leave me here with this man. He's wicked. Don't leave us.

Well, it took an entire year of investigating and searching with authorities but Gideon was rescued from that lake and later his brother was rescued too.

IJM social workers and staff helped Gideon settle in at a shelter where he could begin his healing process. He even enrolled at a vocational school.

And throughout his education the IJM team was with him every step of the way and when he graduated from school with his diploma and a special best in literacy award.

IJM staff were there to cheer him on which I love.
