for this being out a day later than normal. Life has been super busy and we had some stuff come up. So we just couldn't find time. We're both of us were available to record. Yeah. So we needed an extra day, but appreciate you guys understanding and this is a case that I think some people have heard of and I think you may recognize it.

But at the same time, like when I first saw it as a suggestion from anonymous listener from a long time ago, the suggestion was the Thomas Montgomery case and that that didn't ring any bells with me. So then when I searched it instead of reading about it, I learned that this was the tall hot blonde case, which I think is the way that it has been referred to in some other podcasts that I've listened to.

And so if you've heard of the tall hot blonde story, that's this also Thomas Montgomery case, but most importantly, this is the story of the murder of Brian Barrett.

Okay, I'm unfamiliar with all of those introductions.

Okay, so yeah.

So as most of us probably know, cat fishing on the internet has become all too common out days.

Scary.

Tall hot blonde and marine sniper first met online in 2005. But what would end up happening was beyond what anyone could have ever imagined.

Tall hot blonde, she told him she was an attractive 18 year old woman, eager to meet men. And I want to note that this tall hot blonde is all one word and it's TAL HOT BLO and D one word.

TAL, also, and this may just be my personal opinion, but if you are a tall hot blonde chances are that's probably you're probably not going to pick that as your screen name or whatever.

Yeah, no, that's a red flag number one. I agree.

Marine sniper, he told her he was a young Marine recently back from serving in Iraq.

Okay, neither were telling the full truth.

Yikes cat fishing the catfish.

Yep. And if you guys have ever seen the show the circle, that's all I can think of now and I think a catfish.

And it's very like they you basically go in and you can pretend to be a catfish and it's always so funny when there's a catfish catfishing another catfish like yeah they're both lying and that's exactly what was happening here.

And they haven't understanding at least like this could happen, whereas right like on the show catfish, these people are like completely on a list.

Yeah.

So what was going on in this case, Thomas Montgomery was a 46 year old married father to two teenagers.

He worked at a factory in a suburb of Buffalo, New York.
