Thank you for keeping me company in this COVID-19 era. It's a spooky old time right now and recording these shows have really kept me sane in this time of self-distance, where I end up being a

bloody hermit for 99% of my time. So chatting with my guests and with you helps me cut down

on my binge watching of the walking dead, because of course, watching the world fall apart

and having zombies is so the right way to cope with our lives right now. This week, our main

guest is Melissa Click Goodwin, a licensed outdoor guide and photographer

and the founder of Girl Got a Hike.

I'll let Melissa tell you yourself what that's all about.

She hiked the AT with her dad in 2011, and as you're here, that is a story that made us

both laugh a lot.

I actually met her at a podcasting conference in early March, one of the last mass gatherings allowed, and somebody knew that we

were both hikers and connected us. Melissa will be along soon. As you know, with the COVID-19 stuff

up and most in our minds, I've been allocating the middle section of the show to talking about it in some way or other that may be relevant to hikers. However, I'd already

decided this week not to add something about it, as I didn't really have anything valuable

to add to what had already been said. But then I saw a post on Facebook from Miss Janet, the

ultimate Trail Angel. So I asked her to pop pop onto a court with me. We had several

recording difficulties and frankly recording still isn't up to my normal standard. But I felt

the contribution to the subject was really valuable. So I've added it and tried to edit it as
