television, sorry, if you are in Ireland, or if you know Ireland, and you are listening to the radio or maybe even watching the television, you might have heard quite a bit today about Daniel O'Connell.

Now, I say might have. I haven't heard much Irish radio today or television. But today marks 250 years since the birth of an Irish legend, really.

Well, a hugely significant figure in Irish history, Daniel O'Connell.

He came to be known in history as The Liberator.

And he was born 250 years ago, as I said, on this very day in County, Kerry, the wonderful

County Kerry, and he grew up at a time when life was extremely difficult for Catholics,

discrimination against Catholics as Ireland was under British rule.
