The deadline. Snap Benefits Update. This is the headline in Newsweek. Emergency declared as Judge considers Trump funding move. New York Governor Kathy Hocchell has declared a state of emergency Thursday after federal funding shortfalls threatened supplemental neutral assistant program, SNAP for millions of residents.

I'm declaring a state of emergency to use every tool we have to help the 3 million New Yorkers losing food assistance because of the GOP shutdown.

So yes, folks, it is a state of emergency, not, I would say not because the SNAP benefits are being withdrawn, but because 40% of our country is indigent. That is,

in fact, the emergency. I think we need a national emergency to eliminate SNAP entirely forever,
