So in this episode, I talk about aircraft formations again, but I realized I don't think I ever

really defined these before, so like I've done in the past, I want to give a brief primer.

So the basic unit in combat aviation is the flight, consisting of about five aircraft,

depending on the organization, and is led by a lieutenant or captain. Next up is the flight, consisting of about five aircraft depending on the organization

to five flights and can be commanded by a lieutenant colonel. Now here's where it gets a little

confusing. In Commonwealth countries, squadrons are organized into wings and then into groups.

However, in the US Air Force, squadjuns are organized into groups,

then into wings. So to avoid any confusion, anytime I mention these elements, I'll also

include the number of aircraft. Anyway, that's enough. Let's begin episode 21, Shangri-La.
