Hello, I'm Sophia Lusbexter and welcome to Spinning Plates, the podcast where I speak to

to busy working women who also happen to be mothers about how they make it work.

0:14.1

I'm a singer and I've released seven albums in between having my five sons aged 16 months to 16

years, so I spin a few plates myself. Being a

0:22.6

mother can be the most amazing thing but can also be hard to find time for yourself and your

0:27.0

own ambitions. I want to be a bit nosy and see how other people balance everything. Welcome to

0:32.4

spinning plates. Hey podcats. How you doing? I'm recording this outside my house. My hand is so cold, it's about to fall off.

0:44.9

I tried recording this about three or four times inside the house. I kept being interrupted,

1:37.1

on half term, so you know, what off school. How is everything going with you? And if you're doing

1:43.8

the homeschooling thing,

1:46.0

should we just admit defeat and not call it homeschooling? Why did they ever call it homeschooling?

1:49.7

It's not homeschooling. As my mum pointed out to me this week, it's emergency education.

1:54.1

Doesn't that sound much more apt? If you think you're doing emergency education,

1:57.9

oh, hello bloody. You stop trying to be perfect at it, which is ridiculous anyway. Miss my house. You've seen what my kitchen looks like probably. We don't have a home that looks like a school. And I am not very patient when it comes teaching. It turns out. Anyway, that's boring. We don't want to talk about that. What else's been going on? I've been writing a bit of a book. That's been fun. Doing a bit of an autobiography. Just as and when I can. It's been quite fun to delve back to memories. I haven't thought of for ages. Like going back to when I was 16, 17. Actually, it's been quite traumatic, but it's fine. You've got to read all about it at some point, hopefully. I've been doing a bit of work on the album.
