| 0:31.8 | All right welcome back to my mom's basement ladies and gentlemen. It is Robbie Fox. It is Clem and it is one of the listeners favorite return guests. I would say you're up there with |
| 0:42.4 | Thana White, our friend Jose Young's. Everyone's asking for you to come back all the time. It's Michael Waldron coming off the heels of Dr. Strange in the |
| 0:50.5 | Multiverse of madness. The biggest movie in the world right now. Not a big deal. You might have heard of it. Dr. Strange too. Ever heard of it? This guy. |
| 0:58.2 | Half a billion dollar man is in the house. And we're still rocking after we get one. How are we doing? We're your height men. We're your height. We are. Yeah. |
| 1:07.8 | We're your height. I need it. Yeah. I need an air horn. Thank you. Yeah. It's great. Man. I'm just I'm so. Look. It's him. I'm glad people are seeing the movie. Obviously I'm glad people are liking it. It's like it's getting a big |
| 1:24.9 | big divisive reaction in some cases, which which I think we knew it. Honestly, I think we knew it would. It's like we do some crazy shit in this movie. |
| 1:34.9 | And it's cool, man. This movie took Jesus. It was hard to make and we made it during COVID. A lot of people worked really hard. So it's cool. |
| 1:46.9 | Yeah, absolutely. So I want to talk about this movie a lot. And if you haven't seen this movie, you know, maybe see it. We're going to talk a little bit about spoilers and this interview and stuff. But I want to start here. Where does this story start for you? Because I saw the movie loved it and was just like, oh my god, there's so much in it. What's the first thing that comes to mind where you're like, oh, I want to do this. |
| 2:06.9 | And that's when I came on. I mean, really, it was. Okay, it's the multiverse thing, which was cool. But by the time I came on, it's like, I had done Rick and Morty, I had done Loki. I knew, like, you can't, if you're just doing a run through a bunch of multiverses, you're going to end up making a cartoon, which might feel like empty calories to an audience. |
| 2:35.9 | And so I was excited to figure out a real dramatic way to have these characters confront alternate versus themselves. |
| 2:46.9 | And what is, what can that force out of them dramatically? And then an idea that came early on was dreamwalking. And that was just super cool because that felt new. And the notion that Wanda could possess her alternate self and another universe and do bad shit there was like, oh, that's cool. |
| 3:13.9 | Like a cool new multiversal idea. So I was stoked about that. That was all. |
| 3:19.9 | So you said how it was you filmed during COVID and, you know, all the stuff that went on. How like, obviously we know the whiteboard is real Kevin Feige. I even saw that there was a story that said Kevin Feige had a retreat and he took a board with him. |
| 3:33.9 | And I know that's the whiteboard, Walter. And I know you were kind of being coy with us last time that that whiteboard exists when you were writing did you already have the part of the whiteboard that said, Wanda vision, this is what happens, this is where we are. |
| 3:44.9 | And you're going to go from there or where you kind of go on a little bit off your own going into this. And did you have to rewrite it all dirt because of the COVID nonsense. |
| 3:52.9 | Yeah, I mean, it's, look, man, even I still haven't seen that whiteboard. |
| 4:05.9 | And for me, the whiteboard was me sitting, sitting across from Sam Rayme on day one, Sam being like, okay, what is the multiverse. I'm going to draw a bunch of lines and I'm going to draw a bunch of fucking squiggles coming off of it. |
| 4:25.9 | And that was our, that was our whiteboard. I, you know, we knew we were going to follow Wanda vision, which I'd read all the scripts. And I knew, I just knew it was going to be amazing. |
| 4:37.9 | Like I knew I was like, all right, Wanda vision is going to kick ass. |
| 4:43.9 | And the first thing that I wanted to say is, is that you're strange at this point is the anchor of the MCU. So it's okay, cool. Sure. Yeah, really your first movie ever you're right here. And it's like, yeah, right. The fate of the multiverse is in your hands. |
