So last weekend the new movie The Eyes of Tammy Faye during Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield dropped.

This movie is based on the documentary of the same name and is about the rise and fall of

pioneers of televangelism, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker. This was one of the biggest scandals of the 80s

and was really the beginning of the sort of come to Jesus moment a lot of corrupt and criminal figures

in the fundamentalist movement suffered after experiencing mega power and influence after helping

Reagan get elected in 1980. We have a lot to wait through. So my sources for this episode

is a memoir by Tammy Faye Baker. Mezzner is her name by the time she writes this. It's called Tammy telling it my way.

I also read a book called P.T.L. The Rise and Fall of Jim and Tammy Faye Baker's Evangelical Empire by John H. Wigger.

And I watched a front line on the rise and fall of the P.T.L. and Jim Baker as well as the documentary The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

So this will be a two-parter and it's going to take us right up to October when we start our annual tradition
