This is Brian here with Simon and joining us for episode 207 are Will Taylor and Nick Hill

of the superb English band, Flight.

A couple of months ago, the guys released their gorgeous, achingly melodic and deeply affecting second album,

This is really going to hurt.

They joined us over Zoom recently for a lovely chat. We are very

happy to welcome Will and Nick of flight to the show. Lead singer and guitarist

Will who knew he wanted to be a songwriter from the age of 10, met bassist Nick at secondary school

in Winchester, but it was with another school chum, flight drummer John Suprin that Will first bonded

musically.

Will and John would regularly meet up after school to play and write songs together

and form the band called The Ashby's.

After leaving school, we'll spend six months living in the US

and a year in Paris before returning to the UK

and reconnecting with John. And that's also where Nick reentered the fold.

Keyboarder Sam Berridge joined in 2013, Will having spotted in busking at Tottenham Court Road Tube Station.

The band took their name from the character Sebastian Flight from Evelyn Wars novel

Bright's Head revisited and developed their trademark lush harmonies during the many hours

they spent performing in and around the London area which included regular busking on the

Portobello Road.
