This film was directed by Ty West and written by West and Mia Gauth.

With the marketing tagline, an extraordinary origin story, this film serves as an exploration

of Pearl's past before her heinous acts in the film X.

This prequel is the second part of an eventual trilogy, released just six months after X.

Its stark contrast in tone and visuals, aided with rich technicolor, a whimsical score

in cheeky editing, was unexpected.
