Summary

On this episode of The One Piece Podcast we bring together two sides of a debate that has hit the heart of manga fans and enthusiasts for nearly a decade in a civil and informative discussion. For those who don’t know us, we’re The One Piece Podcast, and each week we break down the latest manga chapter and episode from Japan. We’ve also delved into the nuances of One Piece, announced new episodes for the United States, and reported live from One Piece events in Japan. This episode we have Molokidan, the translator from Mangastream’s now-defunct One Piece translations. He has been a translator for scanlators as far back as 2005, and has also worked professionally in manga and other translation projects through today. We also have Stephen, the freelance translator for One Piece on VIZ Media’s Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha. Stephen has been one of the most well-regarded translators for One Piece, garnering high acclaim from fans around the community. It was a huge pleasure speaking with both, and we hope to do this again in the near future. We also want to thank Mangastream for their support in publicizing this episode, and of course to VIZ Media for all their continued support in our work. Here’s how the episode breaks down: 0:00:00 Introduction 0:07:28 News with Ed 0:21:03 Piece Together 0:37:05 Manga Recap 0:59:36 Mangastream and VIZ Media 1:59:23 To Be Continued As always, we have the episode available in AAC/M4A (enhanced with chapter and image features) and MP3 (basic). We hope you join us again next week as we go through the SBS in Volume 65 with Greg in Japan, a manga recap for Chapter 635, a double anime recap, and go through the latest Pieces of Eight where we discuss the latest OP merch.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-one-piece-podcast--5846933/support.
