Last year Frank Reich was the third pass heaviest coach on first down and

because they were throwing the ball so much on first

all you're throwing the ball so much on first down like high pursuit.

First of all you're throwing against a base defense and a base defense like has its nose tackle in,

it has its strong side linebacker in, whereas a non-based defense, a sub-package

is, hello, Jerry.

And a sub-package defense will have an extra defensive back in, so it's built to stop the pass.

But the first down defense is generally are not built to stop the pass.

They're built to stop the run.

So if you're throwing against a defense that is built to stop the run so if you're throwing against a defense that is built to stop the

run you have a competitive advantage and so that was very impressive in Frank Reich's first

year and the papers also did a great job of this and we're going to talk a lot more about this. I talk about this in my team pre-

but you know what we want to do is find out what coaching staffs are going to be making more

optimal decisions this year and we can gain a competitive advantage through that.
