2008 and boy, have I missed you. Sorry, it took a few weeks off. Things got crazy. I was with a

client at the BMW Championship for the PGA Tour and then the past two weeks I was at the U.S.

Open supporting an athlete there.

It was a whirlwind of competition, of pressure, of high stakes, opportunities. It was a blast.

Lots of lessons learned. And it was just so much fun. But let's get back into it. Today I want to talk about adversity.

Many of you are going through tough times right now. And I want to give you the analogy of a brush

fire. Now a brush fire is nothing to mess around with. It's not something to joke around with.

But the analogy of brush fires, how they created how they're strengthened can be a lesson

that we could all learn and apply to our lives now wind actually ignites brush fires the same wind

that can extinguish a flame and a candle also ignites a a fire. It makes it stronger. Now wind alone doesn't generate

this destructive force. The strength of the fire is actually the X factor. How strong is the fire?

If it's covered by trees and wind comes, then it's going to get strengthened. If it's on the upslope, it's going to get strengthened. If it's covered by trees and wind comes, then it's going to get strengthened. If it's on the

up slope, it's going to get strengthened. If it's out in the open and wind comes, it's going to,

it's going to die down. If it's vulnerable in a poor position, when a fire is strong and it's built

well, the wind intensifies it. But if the fire is weak and has a poor

foundation, and like I said, has a poor position, that same wind actually blows the fire out.

Now you and me, all of us are going to continue to face the winds of diversity in sport, in life,

at work, and leadership.

But if the foundation of your fire is strong and the fire is your fire to perform, it's your

why, it's your endurance, your fire is your passion. Your fire is your

focus. Your internal flame that keeps you going. If that is strong, then any resistance
