Welcome back to part two of our conversation with historian Joe Geisner.

When we last left off, Joseph and his friends were thrown some serious shade at President Van Buren

for not siding with the saints and giving the Mormons approximately $1 million in remuneration

for the Mormon War of 1838.

We're picking up where we left up last week, with our friends Joe,

continuing the story of Joseph Experience talking with the nation's leadership. Bryce, Joe, and I are

actually going to start reading 124, with a bit of history first. If you haven't listened to last week's

episode, go do that, then come right back. Patron of the show, Aunt Anna, helpfully pointed out that

Sidney Rigdon didn't escape from Liberty Jail. He was released. She's, of course, 100% right.

And here's where I apologize for some bad editing. While we were recording with Joe, he was in

the middle of talking about who was in prison and who got out and how. And just as Sidney Rigdon was

mentioned, I was drinking some water, and I coughed. It slightly derailed the conversation,

and listening to someone on a podcast, cough is gross, so obviously during post-production,

I cut that bit out. Yeah, I actually kind of sort of cut out the bit where we corrected

the implication that Sidney'd escape along with Joe.
