watermark member christine asks have you ever felt spread thin in your ministry responsibilities

do you struggle knowing what to say yes or no to in the

church? And in my own life, I've recently found myself in that exact situation. I had the opportunity

to serve leading a volunteer team for the college ministry retreat or an opportunity to serve

with Watermark students, with high school students. But I definitely didn't have the margin to do both.

I struggled to decide who I'd say yes to.

Ever been there?

Multiple good opportunities, but unsure which one is your best yes?

In today's Devo, Christine helps set the scene.

She writes,

In Act 6, we see conflict arise within the early

church with a complaint that the Hellenist, Greek-encultured Jewish widows, were not having food

distributed to them fairly. The 12 disciples, number one, called others in the conversation to

evaluate whose responsibility this was.

Number two, they looked for men of reputable character to delegate ministry responsibilities to,

and lastly, they devoted themselves to prayer and to the ministry that Christ had given them.

The 12 disciples knew that the church is one body but with many parts. Therefore,

in making decisions as leaders, it was important to resolve this dispute by bringing others

into the conversation and gaining a consensus from the church body, she concludes. And in my
