My name is Matt. Thank you for listening.

I told you last time about a clandestine worldwide illicit trade ring,

a group of rich merchants and planters in coalition with the Dregs of Society,

Interlopers and Smugglers, Rum Runners, and Pirates.

That coalition stretched from Madagascar to Nassau in the Bahamas,

and then up to the British colonies in North America,

New York with the likes of Frederick Phillips and to the Carolina colony.

But that last bit, Carolina, I brushed past last time.

We haven't talked much about Carolina yet.

Massachusetts, New York, Madagascar, we've introduced all of them,

but Carolina, well, it holds kind of a special place in the story of the Pirates.
