Good morning to you now, and I hope I find you well.

Thursday morning it is the 20th of June. 2024. This is the Papers

podcast with me, Richie Allen. The BBG in Salford himself. Ashertis himself, as we say back

home, in God's country. I look at the front pages and then we go inside. It's the most

basic podcast ever devised or imagined. We're going to start with the Telegraph. The headline,

Tory wipeout, the Telegraph newspaper today, if you happen to be in a news agent in a shopping centre you can't miss it it is

an amazing front page Tory wipeout so an exclusive telegraph poll puts the Conservative Party

well well it says that the party will win only 53 seats, a loss of over 300 after the election on July 4th.

And that the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, and Jeremy Hunt, the Chancellor of the Exchequer,

are likely to lose their seats.

It's amazing.

And the reason I say it's a very striking front page, because on the front page,

there are two maps of Britain, of the UK, I should say.

On the left-hand side is the map as it represents the most

recent Parliament, okay, the map after the 2019 general election. And it is almost completely

blue in yellow for the SNP, yellow in Scotland, but almost completely blue in England and Wales.

And on the right-hand side of the page is the map as it is expected to look after the forthcoming election.

And the blue has changed to red and then some.

Tory wipeout. We'll come back to it so we will briefly though in a few minutes time because you and I are well aware you and I it doesn't matter
