Welcome back to the Rugby Pod Podcast and it's with a sad note that we begin this podcast

today with news that Springgok great use fund of esthazen has passed away at the age

of 45 after a long battle with motor neuron disease.

Our thoughts now with his friends and family at this time may he rest in peace.

It was a legend really sad and we did a game actually last year during the World Cup at

Saracens and it was the Matt Hampson 15 against the juice fund of esthazen 15 and obviously

juiced and you got loads of South African's, ex-Safcomes playing and Kiwis and it was just

you know to see him and Matt Hampson there together.

We see Matt Hampson someone's very close to myself and Jim's heart and raising money

for causes not themselves but people that have you know been less fortunate than them to

have the network around them.

They're just phenomenal characters and yeah that was it was actually absolutely privileged

that day to meet juiced.

Yeah I was the same I met him like spoke to him spoke to the people around him.

Like I didn't follow rugby much when I was younger but there was two players that stuck

out you mentioned Lomu there and Van der Vesthazen as well there two guys even if you weren't

a massive rugby fan I didn't watch it he was one of the guys that a lot of people would

recognise and looking at the tributes earlier it seemed like he must have been in a lot

of pain because you know everyone's saying rest in peace you're now pain free and you

know hopefully his family and friends can take some comfort from that.
