Have you been shopping on an online store like Amazon browsing for something innocuous as a new pair of shoes you have been interested in.

You look up reviews and browse a few options you were interested in, but think you distracted when a friend messaged you a video on YouTube that you have to watch.

Then, boom, like magic, an unskippable ad appears to the very same shoe brand you were

looking at just moments ago.

You might tell yourself, that's just a weird coincidence,

before clicking through your news app on your phone. Again, wedge between the stories for the day,

you see yet another ad of the shoes you were admiring. You may feel crept out now and have the

feeling of being watched, but you've just experienced the wonders of custom internet advertising.

There are numerous ways companies over the years have been able to use modern technology

to determine what exactly you like and want, all in an effort to create advertisements

tailored to you to get you to spend your hard-earned money.

It's become almost of an art of its own, so to speak.

Numerous techniques have been developed in

order for corporations to create these custom advertisements. Probably the most popular is cookie

data, often called purchase or browse data for online storefronts. Online stores often use cookies
