Friendships are one of the great joys in life, and the greatest pals can become family.

We don't get to choose the families we're born into,

but we do get to choose our friends and who we hold dear throughout life.

As we grow older, it's beautiful, and sometimes sad, to find out which friendships grew even

stronger and which ones fell apart or went dormant. Before we started Asian Boss Girl,

five years ago, we'd known each other as friends for about seven years.

Lucky for us, working together has strengthened our relationships with one another.

What's helped has been our dedication to communication and building a strong

foundational friendship. We received many messages from listeners who want to hear more

on the topic of friendship, for making new friends, to maintaining existing ones, and dealing

with follow-ups, what are our thoughts and experiences on this episode?

According to psychology today, there are actually seven types of friendships.

One are lifelong friends, two best friends, three close friends,

four social group friends, or friends you socialize with, but with whom you are not

particularly close, activity friends, friends with whom you engage in specific activities,

such as gym buddies, or maybe your members have the same book club or dinner club, church circles,

so on. The sixth type of friendship are friends of convenience, or the people whom you might share

carpooling duties, or youth sports teams for parents, maybe neighborhood groups, and so on.

And the seventh type of friendship is what is called an acquaintance friend, or people at work.
