It's Friday the 7th of June, 2024.

And for the Republic of Ireland, this means polling day. It is polling day in the

European parliamentary elections and also local elections across the Republic of Ireland. So my

Irish friends and listeners will be, presumably, most of them, will be exercising their franchise today.

They'll be casting their votes.

In these elections, we've covered them, of course, on the Richie Allen show, spoken to a number of candidates, single issue candidates, nationalists and otherwise.

John Waters was on the Richie Allen show yesterday.

If you missed it, by the way, yesterday's program, he was in fine form despite being,

I would imagine, pretty fatigued after campaigning for a number of weeks.

But interesting listen with John yesterday. So the

Irish are off to the polls, to the schools, often primary schools are polling stations, aren't they,

to do their thing. So we'll report back on it next week when results start to come in, no doubt about it.

I'm going to go to the front pages of the papers, but they're dominated today. I have to be honest,

I'm a bit sick of the D-Day stuff. And I mentioned it on the radio show yesterday, the monologue.

I'm sick of it because they never tell the true story.
