It was a regular Tuesday afternoon in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in May of 2004.

When a man boarded the number 98 TransLink bus, the man was middle-aged, had dark hair,

a thin mustache, and a noticeable five o'clock shadow. Witnesses remembered that he looked

like he might be Middle Eastern. When the bus made its scheduled stop at 49th Street

and Granville Avenue, the man got up, headed to the front of the bus and stepped off. But

before he did, he turned to the bus driver and asked, hey, how's your day going? The bus

driver said, good. Then the man nodded his head and cryptically said, well, it won't be

for long, before exiting the bus and calmly walking off into the Vancouver afternoon.

The bus driver closed the doors and kept on with his route. But soon, he felt extremely

nauseous. By the time the driver had driven just 10 kilometers from where he had dropped

off the mysterious passenger, he was so overcome by the sick feeling that he vomited. Obviously

distressed, the driver turned to the remaining passengers and asked if any of them were

feeling nauseous as well. One passenger said, yes, actually, they were feeling a little

off. With that, the driver found a safe spot to pull over roadside and immediately called

the paramedics. The driver feared that his bus may have been the target of a chemical
