Summary

I met Jason and his friends in 2014. They were on the trail helping other hikers while achieving their own hiking goals at the same time. I don't believe that I quite understood how much their journey was geared towards supporting others until we spoke on the show.

Since then, Jason has completed both the Pacific Crest Trail and, very recently, the Continental Divide Trail, to complete hiking's Triple Crown. All these hikes have been motivated by the same theme of helping others while sharing his faith.

You can find out more about Jason and his mission work at

You can also follow him on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/jason.elwood.12

and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/bambooathiker14/

We also caught up with another member of the Mighty Blue Class of 2019, Carlton Johnson and he proved to have such a positive experience on the trail, despite not finishing it this time.

Finally, Paul Stutzman has reached North Carolina, with Georgia now in his rear-view mirror.

This is a show about how I and many others have hiked all or some

I just want to clear up a bit of a misunderstanding from the last week's show,

0:52.1

pointed out to me by my buddy, Glenn Hebert.

0:54.9

He said that I'd told you that I'd had about 600 applicants for our new podcast with an over-50s

woman. We've actually had six. I was just trying to say that my overall unread emails

1:07.6

had increased to 600 from the previous week. So if you thought you didn't stand a

1:11.4

chance to get selected, the odds have just risen dramatically. Sorry about any confusion. This week,

1:17.9

we have a newly minted triple crowner, Jason Bamboo Elwood. Jason was in my class of 2014 on the AT

1:24.7

and was part of a really interesting and caring group of hikers,

1:28.5

which is going to tell you all about.

By the way, each of the three segments today are quite long,

1:33.4

so this is going to be a pretty long show.

1:35.6

Jason's interview was boosted at the end by a very funny poop story.

1:40.2

That lasts about eight minutes just by itself.

1:43.5

So if you listen to this over breakfast,

1:45.5

you may wish to save that bit until a little later.

I was once criticised by a listener for laughing too much at my guest's jokes,
