Extra, extra, good morning, how are you doing it now's Monday the 20th of May, 2024, the 20th of May.

Summer is nearly upon us. Did you have a nice weekend? Wasn't the weather glorious? For the most part, it was here in the UK.

So it was a lovely, lovely week. And we'll go to the front pages of the newspapers in a moment.

But the big story, the big breaking story this morning, is that the Iranian president,

Abraham Reisy, has been killed in a helicopter crash.

And that's according to Iranian state television. What happens now, I'm

jumping ahead very quickly to what happens now, the circumstances of the crash are understood

to have been down to hard, sorry, down to bad weather. By 9.30 last night, that would be UK time. The broadcast media was

reporting that the helicopter carrying the Iranian president and a number of other people,

including Iran's foreign minister, crashed in northwestern Iran, but they had

said it had a hard landing. They are reporting this morning now that he and everybody else

on the helicopter are dead. The protocol now in Iran is the vice president will take. And within 50 or 60 days, I'm not sure,

within two months, I think, there's got to be a general election in Iran. They're describing

this guy who succeeded Rowani, that's right. He succeeded Rowanee, didn't he? They're describing him as a hardline president.

Could there be any foul play involved? Who might have a reason to kill this man? Well, interestingly enough, I've just been watching Sky News who interviewed a woman who's an expert in Middle Eastern politics.

And they didn't ask about any fell play at all.

So they didn't, so just get that straight. They did not.

But the presenter of the program did ask her, could the death of this guy now lead to an increase in protests against the regime,

which have occurred quite frequently in recent years?

And she says, it's very possible that you might see Iranians taking to the street again, demanding reform.

So maybe that might be an area of interest

if people want to start speculating if there was a foreign hand in the death of this man.
