Last time we introduced several early players in the Salem Witch Trials, Samuel Paris, for example,

the Salem Village Minister, his daughter and his niece, Betty Paris and Abigail Williams,

who were afflicted by witchcraft. Betty and Abigail, along with two other girls,

and Putnam, Jr., and Elizabeth Hubbard, accused the first three women in Salem of witchcraft.

Sarah Good was a beggar, a vagrant. She had a five-year-old daughter named Dorothy Good,

and she had either an infant girl named Mercy or was currently carrying Mercy.

Sarah Osborne, on the other hand, was a wealthy landowner, but both were arrested, questioned,

and imprisoned by Salem magistrates John Hawthorn and John Corwin.

That's where we left off, and that could have been that.

A nice, tidy little witch trial that cleaned up an undesirable and a couple of lingering court cases.

What no one counted on here, what really no one gave much thought to, was the girl's nurse,

a slave in the Paris household who had also been accused named Tichuba.

She was going to change everything.
