We last visited New England at the outbreak of King William's War, the North American

Theatre of the Nine Years War. That's what the history books call it at least, but honestly

this conflict was going to break out regardless of what Louis XIV was doing in the Rhine

in North America. A state of open warfare between France and England and the Netherlands,

and basically the rest of Europe, did make the fighting in North America much more severe.

culminated in the August 1689 raid on Pimiquid, modern-day Bristol main. The English commander,

Major Church, who was sent up to fight off the first French raid with these, but then

who left, who was not there when the French returned with a large force of Wabanaki warriors.
