Aggression is one of the last dirty words in our culture.

You can be crass, you can be rude, you can even be profane, but, oh, aggressive, don't be

aggressive, except it's wrong, dead wrong.

I promise you nothing of meaning and transcendence will come into your life passively.

It's time for you to get into the arena to push back against a passive, mediocre existence.

You know, if we learn anything from history,

it's that we don't learn anything from history. We keep repeating the same

things again and again and again, the same problems again and again and again. We think,

oh, I'm immune to the problems of the past. It's not going to happen to my life. And it ends up

happening with your life.

One of my favorite genres to read is biographies. I love biographies because I'm getting a sense

of history. And I also am getting a sense of somebody who had some success. That's why

somebody is writing about them and thinking that enough people like me are going to buy the book.

I mean, what's the last biography you read of the girl next door or the boy next door?

What's the last one you read? Probably not at all because they're just normal, doing good stuff.

But when somebody gets written about them, it's on the back end of aggressive moves

that they made. Aggressive decisions that were above them beyond the fray, things that were

outside of the norm, things that people thought would never work and couldn't ever happen,

they actually made them happen. What makes people like that stand up and stand out from the rest of us?
