Today's episode is episode 18.

It's the second episode in a two-part series covering the single bullet or magic bullet theory.

In its work during the 1970s, the House Select Committee on Assassinations took a look at the

single bullet theory. And today, you'll learn a little bit more about what they did and how they

concluded on this controversial aspect of the assassination.

Turning ahead for just a moment, we've got some exciting episodes, episodes 19 and 20 coming

this weekend. I won't tell you what they're about. I'm just going to tease you a little bit,

and I hope you'll like them. I think you will. So without further ado, let's listen to episode 18.

One thing was for sure about the members and the staff of the newly formed House Select Committee on Assassinations, or HSC.

The HSC felt that such investigations would particularly benefit from the scientific advances of the 15 years that had gone by since the Warren Commission undertook its own investigation.

The country had grown a lot since then.

We'd done a lot that John Kennedy had set his sights on for the country.

We had gone to the moon, and doing this had advanced the

use of a whole host of practical technologies. Things were changing rapidly in a lot of ways,

and technology was on the forefront of everything. The review of the single bullet theory was

clearly an area where the HSCA intended to up their game and use these new techniques to reassess a host of matters that impacted how things concluded when the Warren Commission finally settled on its conclusions and particularly on its own single bullet theory.

It was not 1963 anymore, but unfortunately it was only 1978.

There was still no lasers for laser analysis.

There was still no computer animation models yet.
