Summary

In our Explore the Big Four series we examine a record by Megadeth, Slayer or Anthrax. This week we tackle Slayer's most well known and beloved album, 1986's Reign In Blood. Reign In Blood is generally considered to be one of the most iconic and powerful thrash metal records of all time. We talk through it's inception beginning with their introduction to Def Jam's legendary Rick Rubin, who would go on to help them harness and capture their unique power and brutality. We talk about Reign In Blood's status as an essential thrash record, it's length, Dave Lombardo leaving and re-joining the band on their subsequent tour and give a track by track commentary. Other things discussed in this episode include an update on the Metallica Vinyl Club, Cliff Burton recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the 50 greatest bass players of all time and debut the brand new Lunar Satan track, "Hold The Hand That Holds You Down." Enjoy!
