There's a really common attitude in the Western world

that how strong of a person you are just comes down to how much stuff you can do

that you absolutely hate.

How long can you force yourself to do something to yourself

that if anyone else did the exact same thing to you,

we wouldn't call it self-improvement as much as we'd call it a class B felony

or a violation of the Geneva Convention.
