Simon here with Brian and joining us today is an American singer-songwriter and

guitarist best known as frontman of the acclaimed folk rock band Doors.

A couple of weeks ago, they released their excellent seventh studio album,

the Dave Cobb produced Good Luck with Whatever,

recorded in Nashville's famed RCA Studio A, and it's another top quality entry in a consistently impressive catalogue.

We're delighted to welcome the excellent Taylor Goldsmith to the show.

This interview was recorded late last year, backstage of Gorilla in the centre of Manchester,

just prior to the band's performance there that nice, and it was such a pleasure, wasn't it

bright to spend time with Taylor?

Yeah, he's a very nice, very artichulate chap and thinks very deeply about what he does as you'll hear in a few minutes.

Our guest was born in Los Angeles, California in 1985 and raised in Malibu.

His dad Lenny was a successful LA musician and Taylor showed him. and found himself drawn to the guitar. His dad gave in to his son's

pleading and bought him one and as soon as he could string a few

chords together began writing his own songs. I believe he was later gifted his

first strap by a friend of his dad who brought several of them to the house and told

Taylor to pick his favourite.

God I was lucky if one of my dad's friends produced a pound coin from behind my ear.

Having spent the rest of his teens developing as a songwriter and musician,

Taylor formed the band Simon Dawes with high school classmates and budding young guitarist

Blake Mills, who's also gone on to do pretty well for himself.
