Welcome to Blocton reported. I'm Katie Herzog and we've got a special treat for you this

week and by that I mean no Jesse. My assistant co-host Jesse's in the UK this week. He said

something about joining those climate activists who throw soup on paintings. So if you see

a tall Jew wandering around the British Museum with a can of monstrony peeking out of his

cargo shorts, stop him. So instead of our usual bullshit this week I'm bringing you a conversation

with the publicist Mitchell Jackson. Now the name Mitchell Jackson might not mean anything to you,

but you might recognize the name Mitchell Sunderland, which is Mitchell's maiden name or the

gay male equivalent of a maiden name, mandin name. Anyway, before our guest was known as the

publicist Mitchell Jackson, he was known as the writer Mitchell Sunderland. Mitchell was a staff

writer and editor at Vice Magazine and he described his beat there as the gay B which meant sex

and celebrities. Now Mitchell was very publicly fired from Vice after a scandal that briefly consumed

the media world, but as you will hear the story that was reported at the time is not the entire

truth. I've been trying to get Mitchell to tell his side of the story for years, but he was ham

strong by a non disclosure agreement he signed with the company. That company however is now facing

bankruptcy and probably has bigger concerns than Mitchell, so he is ready to tell all for the first

time. We're also going to talk about his work with the infamous Caroline Calloway, an influencer who

was unmasked as an alleged fraud by her former best friend in New York Magazine a few years ago.

Caroline now has a new book out called Scammer and it's been getting glowing reviews and Mitchell

helped make that happen. We're also going to get some advice from him on what to do when you are

facing cancellation, but before we get to all that, Mitchell has a very interesting background,

a background that has influenced how he thinks about surviving a scandal. So let's start there.
