and Chairman of the National Public and Congressional Committee, Tom Ever, from Minnesota, who was

talking to us from a cheerful 30-degree weather.

But he had played a huge role in the remarkable House Republican outcome in November.

Tom, thank you for agreeing to share with us what happened and how it happened and what

it means for 2022.

When you were phased with what had happened in 2018 and you knew that you had to put together

both a recruiting and a campaign that would break out of the mold at a time when all the

so-called experts said the Democrats were probably going to pick up 15 House seats.

How did you approach this whole campaign?

Well, it's a great question because it actually goes back to the election itself in 2018,

including the National Public and Congressional Committee.

I was actually getting ready to support my classmate, Mimi Walters, from Orange County, California,

to be the next chairperson of the NRCC.

As you know, election night 2018 didn't go so well for our California friends, including

Mimi.

I got up the next day and I told my wife first.

I said, I know what I have to do.
