Hello and welcome back to Akrak I'm Jed Walpaw and we have an

incredibly exciting show for you today so what're going to do is discuss the case of a woman who was

born with tetralogy of fellow that was then repaired and is now at term

pregnancy and is going to be induced for labor.

And what we have is an amazing panel of experts.

So I have with me Marie Louise Mang, who completed fellowships in both Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Obstetric Anesthesia at Columbia and she's now practicing both of those specialties at Duke University.

And she's really got an interest in pulmonary

hypertension and pregnancy, really an expert in this area and will be taking

us through the kind of pre-operative thinking that you need to think about with one of

these patients and what we need to have on

our minds.

Then we've got, and listeners of the show will be very familiar with the one and only

Dr Michael Hoffkamp, who is an obstetric anesthesiologist and the head of obstetric

anesthesia at Baylor Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Texas.

And Mike is going to take us through the actual obstetric management of a patient like this and then to

round it out we have my good friend and colleague Jason bout who is and trained in

OB so he did an OB residency he then did a maternal fetal medicine,

perinatology fellowship, and then he did a fellowship in critical care

medicine. And so he is really an expert in this area

and will talk to us about the post-operative care

of these patients.

So I think it's going to be really fascinating.
