Bill the bike guy, he's a pioneer in American cycling and has nothing but amazing stories to tell.

Now, frankly, this episode became something of a history lesson for me. I have known about Bill

for about as long as I've been a cyclist myself, but I wanted to do my due diligence. And so

learning about American cycling in the 1970s really became

eye-opening for me. The pioneering nature of road cycling in that era, which eventually

spawned my career, and frankly, any kind of cycling bug that you presumably have been bitten by,

which has led you to this podcast also probably started with history

tying back to that era.

So as much as we talk about modern gravel cycling pioneers, let's be honest, the history

goes way back prior to that.

Bill has written a book recently titled What If?

We're going to talk about at length today.
