I hope you enjoy this short but very motivating episode of the Strength Running Podcast. Dear Coach Jason Fitzgerald, just wanted to let you know that I finished the 10-Miler in New Jersey this past Sunday.

I was successful in following my strategy of Run two minutes, walk one, and finished without

any injuries.

Not sure I would say that I love running yet, but I accomplished my goal and feel very relieved.

FYI, four days before the race, I started to listen to my inner critic, who was scaring the heck

out of me.

I called my daughter and told her that I didn't think I would be there.

I reserved the right to not show up. She understood it didn't

try to convince me one way or another. Within hours of that call I received an email from

you about failure and losing motivation. It was a game changer for me because I knew then

that what I was feeling was normal with the race day approaching.

You see, I'm learning how to be an athlete at 60 years young.

Later that evening, I sat in meditation and

acknowledged familiar uncomfortable self-doubting feelings and the fact that they

were having on my body. I did not judge them and simply let them go. I woke the next morning feeling totally different and went out and bought the safety pins for the bib number. There was no turning back now.

I've learned that running is a form of meditation. When we sit in meditation we sit to train the mind to be with whatever arises, to allow, to surrender, to not judge and to be kind to ourselves.

Depending upon what's going on in our life,

some of our meditation sessions can be very uncomfortable.

I happen to be going through one of those difficult times again.
