Nellie Mackay first appeared on my personal radar about eight years ago,

when I chanced upon an article about her in Word magazine here in the UK.

I liked the cut of her jib as they say so I went

out and bought her debut album, Get Away From Me, and was totally bowled over by her precocious talent,

her intelligence and charisma, not to mention the adventurousness of the

melodies and the sheer variety of styles she navigated with such ease.
