Summary

We've been incredibly lucky with our management of rain so far but, as with all things, this, too, shall end.

The rain is upon us and making the New York rocks slicker and far more dangerous.

We have a quandary, in that there are blue-blazes to avoid the rocks but we want to stick with the white blazes as long as we possibly can. This purist streak may well be tested soon.

I've been a little bit humbled by the weather, and that's not something I say normally.

Generally, Trigger and I've managed our hike pretty well when it comes to avoiding too much rain,

but this past few days have seen rain and rocks, which is such a lethal combination.

Anybody who's ever done this will think about those rocks and just just getting any rain on them really makes

them in a lot of cases slick and you never can really tell which part's wet and which part isn't

now there are prescribed get-outs or blue blaze trails that avoid the rocks in wet weather so you know

we could get out of those but so far we haven't taken any of them.

I'm not sure how much longer we can safety continue to do that. I didn't take any of them in

2014 and I haven't taken any of this time. We just have to see how it goes. But before we get
