your own actions and create confusion.

And there's also guilt by association, by linking your opponent to the behavior you're

accusing them of, you attempt to taint their reputation to undermine public

trust.

Diversion.

The tactic can distract from the actual issues, evidence, making it harder for opponents

to officially countering claims.
